The Disaster Risk Management Committee is a multidisciplinary technical initiative of IAEG Peru. It promotes the generation, exchange and application of scientific and technical knowledge to understand, prevent and reduce disaster risk.
The Committee brings together professionals and researchers from geosciences, engineering, environmental management, spatial analysis, territorial planning, public management and related disciplines. Its work connects science, technology, territory, planning and risk governance to support more resilient, inclusive and context-sensitive decision-making.
Established in 2023, the Committee contributes to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) through applied geoscience, knowledge sharing, technical cooperation and outreach. It seeks to connect local expertise in Peru and the Andean region with national, regional and global DRR frameworks.
The Committee promotes a geoethical approach that recognizes the social, environmental and territorial dimensions of disaster risk, with particular attention to vulnerable communities and areas exposed to multiple hazards.
